Are you looking to buy organic baby clothes at an affordable price?
New parents are including organic clothing on their shopping list more than ever. But, the main concern I hear from parents is, it is expensive for average consumers. When we launched NIOVI, it is one of the main aspects we took into consideration. Being an ethical and organic brand, it costs more than typical fast fashion chain to manufacture our products. We have tried our best to keep our pricing keeping affordability of average consumer in mind.
Why is organic clothing expensive?
Organic and fair trade clothing is a comparatively expensive – the reason being the entire manufacturing supply chain treats everyone involved in a fair and ethical way. This basically means farmers get a minimum guarantee on their cotton prices, usually a better price than the prevailing market rate. After the cotton is acquired from the farmer, the seed is separated from the linen either manually or through a ginning factory. From the acquisition to stitching in the supplier’s factory, each and every one of the employees involved will be paid fair wages set by GOTS standard. The cotton is labeled and treated separately away from conventional cotton throughout the entire supply chain.
The dyes used are low impact dyes which leaving a minimum footprint on the environment and also completely eliminates the use of ASO dyes and heavy metals in printing. With the GOTS standard water has to be treated before being released incurring additional expense for manufacturers. These additional costs in the manufacturing process and hence organic clothing costs more than typical fast fashion clothing. The advantage though is due to the tensile strength of organic cotton, the clothing will last longer and can be handed over to other parents once your children outgrow it. It is also safe for our skin and the environment. You can also be proud of the fact no one is being hurt in the process of making your clothing.
